Lincoln is home to a range of leading industries that rely on cutting edge surface engineering to instil specific properties upon their products. For our 2nd breakfast seminar event we are celebrating some of the local scientists who drive the R&D agenda in this sector, including presenters from Siemens and Praxair. High performance coatings are important for reducing friction, preventing corrosion and increasing resistance to harsh chemicals, amongst others things. Join us to learn more about this fascinating area.
The seminar will take place on Microsoft Teams, and it is free to attend. To register for this online event please email Holly Roebuck.
The programme is as follows:
8.30 – 8.35 Prof. Ian Scowen, Director of the Bridge (UoL) – Introductions
8.35 – 9.30 The application and use of Surface Engineering in Gas Turbines
Paul Walker (Siemens) – Original Equipment Manufacturer Perspective
Jon Cherrington (Praxair) – Coating Supplier Perspective
Jon Wells (Surface Engineering Contractor) – End User Perspective
9.30 – 9.45 Peter Eaton (UoL) – Advanced Methods for Surface Analysis
9.45 – 10.00 Discussion and more information about collaborating with The Bridge, Prof. Ian Scowen
